STEPHAN KEHRER - BUILDING SOLUTIONS

The site of the competition is located in the old town of Brixen, next to the dome. Adjacent to the church we find the oldest buildings dated with the 12th century. There are parts of foundations that go back to the Roman Empire. In one of these old structures the new city library of Brixen is proposed to be established. Additional an annex building as a new structure is planned.

A competition was set to design a new sport hall on the school campus of Brunico. We proposed a new structure with three separate sport fields. The building is set half way underground, so the huge volume will have less impact on the surrounding area. The facades are purely designed in glass in order to bring light from all sides. Additional the roof is penetrated by skylights and lightens the gym with diffuse light.

The project provides flats for up to 90 families in three separate blocks. Flats are designed for smaller as well larger families. On the top level of each block penthouses with wide green terraces are proposed. Parking spaces are also projected on two underground levels. In total there will be over 190 parking spaces provided. The facade of the buildings consists out of single panels with different materials. They will be in wood resistant to humidity and sun exposure as well as metal and glass. The panels can be positioned according to the buyers wish during construction time, so the front of each flat will be different. Owners can decide, if they want a more glassy or closed front to live next. The housing complex follows the green building standards, a tall tree will grow in the middle of the plaza.

We participated in the competition for the new headquarters of the Volksbank in Bolzano.

The site is located in the industrial area, but still very close to the old town. The lot is narrow and 100 meters (333 feet) long. The 4 storey office building hosts large open office spaces for the bank accounting system and management as well as renting out space for other companies. Two floors of parking are added to the structure in the underground.
